Yoga Nidra: The Sleep of Awakening - Indu Arora

Meaning of Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is the sleep of awakening!

In Sanskrit, every alphabet (a-kshara) has at least 20 possible meanings. The root binds the word together, giving it inner compass towards a specific experience. Every alphabet and every word is experiential
instead of a dictionary understanding. In Yoga Nidra, the root ‘Ni’ means a state of void, an emptiness, a stateless state, and ‘dra’ comes from ‘dru’, which means to draw forth. When combined together, Nidra means an empty state drawn forth from within. When we add the word Yoga to it, the meaning changes completely. The state of Yoga is not just a state of union but also that of dissolution. Thre kind of union where 1+1 = none. Yoga Nidra is therefore a stateless state experienced by the practitioner when there is absolute awareness even though experienced by the practitioner when there is absolute awareness even though the person is in deep dreamless sleep.
