Abstract: Obesity is one of the most non communicable diseases which has been labeled as a global epidemic facing all age groups with a higher incidence in women. This complex condition ranges over socioecomonic groups, races and poses a high risk for a host of metabolic disorders including diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, stoke and possibility of certain types of cancer. Increasing predisposition of obesity world wide not only effects the health of the individual but also introduces a strain on medical intervention and rising cost of treatment. The World Obesity Federation has labeled obesity as a chronic, relapsing disease process which can prove challenging in reducing symptoms, improving health outcomes and negating the disorder.
