Description

Abstract: Cognitive science is the interdisciplinary study of mind and intelligence, embracing philosophy, psychology, artificial intelligence, neuroscience, linguistics, and anthropology. Its intellectural origins are from the mid-1950's when researchers in several fields began to develop theories of the mind based on complex representations of computational procedures. The central hypothesis of cognitive science is that thinking can best be understood in terms of representational structures in the mind and computational procedures that operate on those structures. While there is much disagreement about the nature of the representations and computations that consitute thinking, the central hypothesis is general enough to encompass the current range of thinking in cognitive science, including connectionist theories which model thinking using artifical neural networks.

Ayurveda literally means "science of life" in Sanskrit; hence it isn't merely a body of knowledge aimed at treating diseases by the ancient scholars of India. The knowledge has been documented in various treaties. One of the oldest treaties, Caraka Samhita dates back even prior to 3000BC based on internal evidences. It is a magnus opus that just doesn't detail various prophylactic practices and therapeutic interventions aimed at optimum heatlh but also basic understanding of the human condition from various dimensions such as philosophical, biological, psychological, social, and even spritual. Thus, this text does seem suitable to search for the nuggets of cognitive sciences that not only fulfils one's historical curiosity but also contribute some perspective to enrich the currently studied and researched cognitive science.
