Ayurveda Balancing Recommendations Will Assist Veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Kiffie Hester
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has become a common medical term in the military and has been referred to as one of the leading injuries that our military is sustaining from combat, with as many as 24%
being diagnosed from current conflicts.1 This article will focus on an overview of available plans for assisting with PTSD from different sources and studies, such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and complementary and alternative medicines, including components of the 5000-year-old science of life, Ayurveda. These components will include nutrition, breathing methods, mindfulness, and meditation. Studies and research show us that PTSD symptoms have been decreased in different segments of the population using these four components, and the purpose of this paper is to show that this information will also assist veterans with PTSD.
