Abstract: This study explores the effectiveness of Ayurveda and alternative medicine systems in the management and prevention of COVID-19 in Nepal. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research was conducted across nine selected Ayurveda and alternative medicine centers throughout the country. Data of total of 3,191 patients treated from nine centers were collected through institutional records, key informant interviews and case analysis. Demographic analysis revealed higher representation among males and middle-aged groups. The findings indicate that a substantial number of patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 symptoms were effectively managed using Ayurveda therapies, herbal formulations, yoga, dietary modifications, and lifestyle counseling. Preventive interventions reached over 237,000 individuals through immune-boosting decoctions and personalized guidance, showcasing the capacity of traditional systems to function at a community level. Standard treatment duration was seven-fourteen days. The patient satisfaction rate was high. The study reinforces the relevance of Ayurveda and other traditional systems during public health emergencies and recommends their integration into national health care policy frameworks for future resilience and preparedness.
